Hi Roy,

The name of the MSC vessel is MSC Jeongmin. Sorry for late answer.

Brgds,
Valerii

Hi Marce,
Might be, but they still look very odd to me.
As the roro spaces stop in front of the accommodation the fwd part is in fact just a box-ship and thus it seems a waste of space.
The only thing I can think of, purely a guess, is if the ship has hatches, same as the 'G3 class' the cell-guides above the hatches have to be moved slightly (fwd or aft) in order to remove the hatches. That might explain why they look so "heavy".
Anyone with the real meaning please correct me if I'm wrong.
Cheers,
Roy

Hi MO Roy.
Watching the full screen picture and the photos shown in the link posted by rd77, it seems to me that those triangle shaped structures are safe means of access to reach the lashing platforms or perhaps the plug points for reefer containers, but off course other opinions are welcomed. Cheers

Hi,
In addition to my earlier post/question, what is the name of the MSC vessel? Seems to start with Jeong, but unable to read to last letters.
Any light on this Valerii?
Cheers,
Roy

Hi, anyone any idea what the triangle shaped structures are for on both sides of the cell-guides? I can see that most of the fans, to ventilate the ro-ro spaces are on the accommodation and just behind it so that can't be the function.
It seems to be a waste of valuable cargo (container) space, as on the link provided by rd77, it;s visible the containers will be only 13 wide while the ships has a beam for 15 wide boxes.
Cheers,
Roy

Just found this link to a great blog about these new "G4's" in a post of one of old ACL ships: http://www.nextgenerationconro.com/blog/

Great shot, I look forward to see her coming to Hamburg soon. She looks quite ready for delievery, doesn't she?
