Even at that time it was a rare old vessel.

Many thanks for the kind comment. I think I have some more oldies. I will post them between my actual sightings. But of this ship quality only very few.

One of a class of 8 ships built after WWII. Norfolk was the first of these, built by John Brown of Clydebank in 1947. She was delivered in Federal colours but she had her name changed in 1953 to HAURAKI when she was transferred to New Zealand Shipping. As a result the whole class became known as the HAPARANGI class as she was the second of the class delivered. Like most of her sisters HAPARANGI ended her life under P&O colours following P&O's major rationalisation in 1971 when Federal disapeared into P&O's General Cargo Division. P&O had owned both Federal and New Zealand Shipping since 1916.
