Good taste, MattyBoy ;-) Greek islands are really beautiful.
Island hopping... great idea. There are enough greek islands even for 6 months. You would enjoy it for sure!
If you have any questions concerning islands or/and ferry routes, you can just send me a personal message. I´ll try to help as good as I can.

Florian

In our neck of the woods (northern Europe) we tend to call it roman-catholic berthing (no insult intended). It takes some getting used to, without training you'll look stupid, but it is superbly efficient, should be copied widely. Uwe

Cheers Robbie. I've noticed this with the majority of vessels, even small yachts, and often wondered if it was an easy manoeuvre. It's not something I'd particularly fancy doing.

Thank-you Florian. That's much appreciated. I particularly like the Greek islands, I don't know why. I'd very much like to do island hopping sometime in the future, maybe spend 6 months out there. Nice to know what the routes are.

The Blue Galaxy, Panagia Tionou & Prevails are moored using a Mediterranean mooring set up where the anchor is dropped and the vessel is put astern while slowly paying out chain. the stern ropes are then made fast to the shore.
I have never done this type of mooring before so if you google it there should be a more precise explanation on how to do it.

Hi MattyBoy,
yes the vessels are moored regulary (some more, some less often) at these docks.
BLUE HORIZON: Piraeus-Irklion (Crete) route;
at Piraeus every second day
BLUE GALAXY: Piraeus-Chania (Crete, too) route; at Piraeus every second day
PREVELIS: Piraeus-Cyclades-Crete-Dodecanese islands route; at Piraeus 2-3 times a week
PANAGIA TINOU... a sad story... arrested due to depts / unpaid seamen :-( Probably we won´t see her sailing again, Maybe towed away one day... Eleusis Bay or the brakers at Aliaga probably
Hope this may help.
Best Regards
Florian

Thanks Florian for that info. Do you think this mooring configuration is a familiar one? That is to say, are the same vessels regularly moored here?
