I have a photo of this vessel.
Back in 1983 when i was in the Merchant Navy and i was at Beauty Point college. The local paper ask myself and 2 others help tie up the vessel. I will try and find the paper artical and submit it some time tommorrow (17/7/2017)

Thanks for the info, Covesy.
LOL - I just looked at my last post and realised it should have said "1951" no "195"! :-)
My dad brought home a big lump of coal off one of the ships he was on - it had "Fool's Gold" embedded in it. I was very impressed as an impressionable 7yr old!
I remember there were gas works also further up the Parramatta River - I have dim memories of him working out of Mortlake?

Annette, this is the Stephen Brown that brought coal from Newcastle to North Shore Gasworks, Kerosene Bay, Waverton. We kids loved to see her come into "our bay". These ships were called "ninety milers".

OMG!!!
I've finally found a ship that my father sailed on in his career as AB Seaman in Australia from 195, that has not been B/U!!!
If this is THE "Stephen Brown" ---
