| Ahj, ha a "Bovril Boat" - Despite their somewhat less than salubrious trade in the Thames out to the Sunk they were very smart and well maintained ships and had a small fortune spent on maintaining them to a very high standard. To get a berth aboard one of these ships was virtually impossible and I've even heard of Extra Masters serving as Second Mates. The most modern Effluent Tanker on this run was the "THAMES" which I always thought was a very good looking vessel. The "SIR JOSEPH BAZALGETTE" was one of the earlier class but not much different to the NEWHAM" Class. . |

This one is the ex-NEWHAM, now ALEX II owned by Marika Investments Ltd, Lagos.
The BEXLEY was broken up in India in 2001 and HOUNSLOW is now CROWN, owned in Sharjah. David |

Vladimir,
great to see this picture, I wondered what happened to the Thames sewage boats. They were called, Bexley, Hounslow & Newham (named after London Boroughs.) Here is a picture of Bexley: http://www.shipspotting.com/modules/myalbum/photo.php?lid=146344 Regards John J. |

| Would certainly agree with that. If not her one of the sisters which operated on the Thames. Extremely interesting to see this pic. The last sewage disposal vessel, GARROCH HEAD from Glasgow is also out in Nigeria somewhere I believe. |

| Looks very similar to the Sewerage dumping vessel 'Sir Joseph Bazalgette', which operated out of Dublin Port in Ireland (until a couple of years ago). Named after the man who designed and developed the Central London Sewerage Network. |
