ENERCHEM TRADER - 22 June 1997 - Photographed while she was sailing downbound in the Welland Canal as she was approaching the Clarence Street bridge in the harbour at Port Colborne, Ontario, Canada.. Photo by Jeff Cameron..

This once familiar Great Lakes tanker was built at Sorel, Quebec back in 1961 as J. EDOUARD SIMARD.. Her name was shortened to EDOUARD SIMARD in 1967 then changed to LE CHENE No. 1 in 1982 and then to ENERCHEM TRADER in 1997. Her Great Lakes career came to an end in 2000 when she was sold to foreign operators and renamed SILVERHEAD.. During July of 2003 though, after 42 seasons of service she was retired and beached for demolition at Gadani Beach, Pakistan..
