Hi Jens, yes it's a lot of different subject matter to learn. Actually about 90% of what you study in maritime school will never be used again, most of what is really useful is acquired on board depending on what type of ship you sail on.

Thanks Michael. Just read about the Plimsoll mark on Wikipedia, but I'm afraid I didn't completely understand it. To think you had to learn all this stuff - my respect!

Nice shot, really shows the remaining maintenance workload of the crew. I tried getting a close-up of the plimsoll mark and was looking for quite a while until i found it completely rusted. Any serious port state control will issue a deficiency for that.
