This vessel was used as a floating prison in Brazil's military dictatorship in 1964.

Built as CAP VERDE by Flensburger Schiffbau Gesellschaft. Yard-No. 197, launched 8th May, 1900, delivered to Hamburg-Süd 27.7.1900. Length 129,54 m, beam 14,7 m, GRT 5.909, tdw 7.190, crew 84, pax first class 87, tween deck pax 500, Quadruple expansion steam engine 3.000 hp, 11,5 knots speed, 1 propeller, 1914 mothballed at Hamburg, 1919 delivered to Great Britain for P & O, but not put into service, march 1921 sold to „Anglo-Yugoslav Transatlantic“ Co., but not put into service, resold to Hamburg-Süd in May 1922. Sold to Lloyd Brasiliero in 1925, renamed RAUL SOARES. Regards Peter

This ship is originally the CAP VERDE of Hamburg-Süd, built 1900 at Flensburg, in 1922 renamed MADEIRA and in 1925 sold to Lloyd Brasileiro with the name RAUL SOARES until 1965 when finally sold for scrapp.
