WELCOME TO SHIPSPOTTING.COM
Description:
Part of "Inner harbour" in Horten, showing most of the ex. Norwegian Main Naval Base(until 1962) Karljohansvern, and the Naval Yard, later civil yard, at which 208 ships(military and civil) were built during the years 1830 - 1984. On the left part we still see the largest dry dock, in which one of the ferries "Bastø" is visible. To the right: The "small" and old dry dock, with a ferry in. In front, left: the museum ship, HMNoS "Narvik" - F 304 - a frigate, built here in the sixties. A small ferry to the right, probably "Svelviksund", IMO 7719935. Today this ex yard area has a diversity of industrial business, + + . If You think You can see air plane hangars as well, that was correct, as the Royal Norwegian Navy had their own Air Force, Main Station, here.
