The “cowcatcher” - as you call it - and platforms at the stern doors were added during a 1996 refit at Lloyd Werft, Bremerhaven to convert her for use on the Dover-Calais route. Her shipboard, bow and stern loading ramps, as required on Stena’s Gothenburg-Frederikshavn route, had to be removed so that she could operate with the link-span ramps at Dover and Calais.
