Hi Bobs -John.
the frame at the foremast usually supports two weak blue lights which are used to help steering at foggy conditions and in restricted waters as well.
They are placed that way so as not to be obstructed by cranes.
(I sailed in two bulkers which used that device and is really very useful)

Well caught, John. I was under orders from "the boss" this afternoon so could not get out to catch it.
I wonder if anyone can enlighten us as to what that “thing” on the foremast is for?
