1982-sold to Troodos group, renamed POLYS.
1986-renamed POLIKON (as photo).
1987-declared CTL after aircraft missile attack 5/4 in Persian Gulf in Iran-Iraq war.
1991-renamed MICKY for tow to breakers and arrived Gadani Beach, 22/12.
This photo was taken at the ASRY-Arab Ship Repair Yard in Bahrain, where POLIKON was being patched-up after a hit by an Iraqi Exocet missile during the Iran-Iraq War. The missile passed right through the empty tanker without exploding. The hole is just visible to the right of the lower part of the nearest crane.
Apparently, this ship was hit three times in the 1980s ‘tanker war’ between Iraq and Iran. This was the second time. Five months later she was hit again and declared a total loss. She joined the many burned-out tanker hulks in the Gulf until 1991, when she was towed to Gadani Beach for demolition.
