Rebuilt twice during her life, ALVA MAERSK was originally a 28000 GRT steam turbine containership. She was lengthened by 14 metres in 1978, only two years old, and in 1985 her turbines were replaced with a diesel engine in combination with another 14 metres of additional hull. This picture shows her in the second stage of her life , early eighties.The small stack on the top of funnel gives away the presence of the steam turbines.
