Loading commences for maiden voyage at Xingang, China on 12/06/2016.
ETA at first North European port is 1900 hrs 18/07/2016 at *Southampton*, followed by Antwerp, Bremerhaven, Gothenburg, Aarhus, Wilhelmshaven, Bremerhaven.

Yes, Andy you are correct. She is the first for Quantum Scorpio Box, a j/v between Scorpio Gp. and Idal Ofer's Quantum Pacific Group.

But again the thread serves only to confirm that most members on the site simply do not have a sense of humour. May be Vlad should have saved his comments for April 1st.

Building for "Tiny Box Shipping Co Ltd", Marshall Islands for MSC and apparently given the notional name TINY BOX. A bit bizarre.

The following two apparently the more reasonable names JUMBO BOX and MEGA BOX, though will presumably be launched wiht MSC names.

I guess everybody was very serious haha, the competition would have loved it...

Now everybody seems to go for enclosed bridges, it's a pity, les feeling with the elements and creating even more people with their heads in the radar and ecdis screens.

Do not hang your head over the rails:
Funnel exhausts emitted directly into the water = water pollution instead of air pollution.

Great shot as always, guess she is the first 19,200 for Scorpio from SHI.
I would love to be there now seeing these new MSC's at SHI & DSME. As usual they just seem to appear from no where, wasnt so long ago it was the new CMA's fitting out.

I like the enclosed bridges of both the new DSME & SHI designs.

At least Samsung doesn't try to scare the Aponte family with a 'Maersk-blue' MSC logo.

This ship has a novel funnel-less arrangement, where exhaust fumes are channeled below the hull from the bottom exhausts, thus creating a super-cavitation effect and reducing water friction by oh pont oh eight percent (the downside being the hull itself lasting no more than 7 months)...

:)

Otherwise, this is how SHI usually launches its vessels, without funnels, which are fitted later.
