Texas Clipper was sunk as a reef

I was in Galveston, Texas laying up the NS Savannah when they brought in the Texas Clipper. I had sailed on the Excalibur, a sister ship of the Excambion, and took a nostalgic walk around her.

The navy is a victory type WW2 vessel and at the bow you can read Sutton or Gutton.

This is on the Neches River, half way between Beaumont and Port Arthur. Last time when I was there, a lot of those in this picture went to the breakers, mainly to Brownsville. The Seatrain Ohio was still used and repair/maintenance vessel at that time

The ship behind Texas Clipper is Pioneer Crusader, a former U.S. Lines "Challenger-Class" cargo liner built in 1963, and which was scrapped in 2011.

I believe this photo was taken at Beaumont, Texas.

The merchant marine cadet training ship Texas Clipper served during WW-II as the attack transport USS Queens (APA-103), and after the war as American Export Lines' Excambion. In 1965 she was converted into a training ship.

USNS Dutton was a survey vessel converted from a WW-II Victory cargo ship, Tuskegee Victory.

In the background are three Andes-class cargo liners that formerly belonged to Lykes Lines; Gulf Banker, Gulf Trader and Gulf Shipper.

All of these ships have since been scrapped with the exception of Texas Clipper, which was sunk as an artificial reef in 2007.

I think this can possibly be at Suisun Bay or at the James River where the USA had their reserve fleets.
