I usually use the same approach as Roy said; digging on the net has its own pleasures. :)
Starting from the assumption of a series of vessels, and just going forward with the IMO numbers (first 6 numbers entered will produce the 7th one automatically, in case of searching in marinetraffic.com) it is sometimes possible to get a glimpse into the "forbidden" (=not free of charge) data with a simple google search, because the preview in google will show it.
Of course, this will sometimes produce completely wrong results, as the preview may be from a very different page. :)

Cheers

And yes Phil, I know where you get your infor from, but I was surprised to see others coming up with sort of similar structured info, which made me wonder whether there is a type of public source that I up to now failed to discover.

Where have the good days gone when Fairplay produced a quarterly "world ships on order" supplement..

Pieter, you know where I'm getting the info from, and you also know that it's not confidential, just not free of charge. The occasional snippet of course doesn't matter :-)

Hi Pieter,
I can't speak for others but the info I have is purely from public available internet sites.
It sometimes involves tedious searching and cross-checking.
Following site states all current new-buildings: http://www.clarksons.net/sin2010/register/default.aspx?rOpt=orderbook
Info is basic but it gives you yard-numbers with type and size of vessels. With that info you can go, for example, to "maritime connecter" to find the imo-number (type in yard with capitals otherwise it won't work). Then if you have the imo-number you can further try your luck with typing in imo-number in google followed by vessel (otherwise you get only phone-numbers).
I didn't found one site with all wanted info yet, so it sometimes involves a bit try and error.
Groeten.
Cheers,
Roy

Of a more general nature, are there currently publicly availale links that show ships on order or is the info posted below based on confidential information?

Hi Roy, Sungdong 3086 (IMO 9726463) is still in build and expected to be named MAERSK TEMA. Yes, there is already a containership named MAERSK TEMA, but my guess is that she will be renamed before the tanker name is registered. The current MAERSK TEMA is currently in drydock, Dalian, and I suspect will be renamed during this process.

Thanks Vlad and Phil.
Then where has Sungdong 3086 gone, did we miss something.....?

Maersk Tianjin is Sungdong hull 3095, IMO 9718064. Maersk Teesport is Sungdong hull 3096, IMO 9718076.

Time to answer the question about the name of the vessel next to this one. It is Maersk Teesport. (Did I say it sounded Chinese?) :)

Maersk Tema is mentioned bij DNV as IMO-9726463 with the same dimentions as the Maersk Tacoma, Maersk Tampa , Maersk Tangier . In this way it should be number 4 of the Horizon vessels. May be in the meanwhile renamed in Maersk Tianjin.
We wait and see till the ship is delivered.

Thanks for your comments, Roy and Allan. The other one is not Tema, but some Chinese name (if I remember). But I'm sure we'll find out the data on these babies eventually...

This is very confusing. Maersk Tangier 9725451 is Sungdong 3077. 9725463 given as yard 3086 I also had down as Maersk Tema (but that is the name of a boxboat as you say) so may be they realised their mistake and changed it to Maersk Tianjin

Hi Vlad,
Was the other one named Maersk Tema?
Found out here: https://exchange.dnv.com/Exchange/main.aspx?extool=vessel&vesselid=34873 that Tema has number 9726463 so than the Tianjin might be yard number 3095 with imo-number Allen has given us.
A bit strange / confusing because the (current) Maersk Tema is the Wide Juliet 9698264.

Roy

Hi Allen,
Haha you posted in the meantime that I was checking and writing my post.
Cross-checked again and 9726463 is for yard number 3086 instead of 3088. No worries I assume a typo.
Thanks and cheers,
Roy

Hi Vlad,

I hope you enjoy your stay in Hong Kong, I guess it's work but still I always enjoyed Hong Kong very much.

In the meantime did some crosschecking and I found IMO number 9726463 for yard number 3086 which seems to be a sister of the Maersk Tangier.
Of course no 100% guarantee.....

Cheers,
Roy

If its the first of the Maersk 6-vessel order, yd 3095, then its 9718064, or it may be the last of the ones taken over from Horizon Tankers, yd 3088 in which case its 9726463

hope that helps, it would be better if we knew the name of the other one. Come on Vlad, get your thinking cap on !

Yes, Roy, I did. :)
But you will have to wait until I get back from Hong Kong - the name was legible, but I just can't remember it right now...

So far cannot find the IMO-number.
What's the name of the other one? You knew this question was coming haha.
