Hi Pier, but which one the one on her stern or on her bow,on this photo the name BANASA on her bow whilst on others it is the GALAXY on her stern and according to Marinetraffic.com she was being shown on the AIS as the GALAXY.....confusion incorporated. But at least she is now MOBY KISS for sure. Regards .
Pier Master on Jul 19, 2016 10:40 (2 years ago)
Hi Emmanuel, we'll use the name that is on display for all to see.
Regards, Brian.
Emmanuel.L on Jul 15, 2016 16:46 (2 years ago)
Hi Brian, whilst she had BANASA on her bow ,on her stern was the name GALAXY with port of registration Limassol. So which is the true name, the one on her bow or the one on her stern with the port of registration, and even the AIS was showing her as GALAXY up till the name change to MOBY KISS.....????? regards.
Pier Master on Jul 15, 2016 13:39 (2 years ago)
As it shows BANASA in the photograph I will amend the title as such.
Regards, Brian.

Hi Luca, at the moment she is in No.5 dock which in this dock is a bit difficult to take photos of ships as sheds and buildings practically hide the vessels, but when she undocks I will do my best to photograph her .Thanks and regards.

No problem, I mean exactly the 2003 engines, new for a lady of 1975...
Thank you all for updating. Any pictures?
Emmanuel.L on Mar 31, 2016 13:50 (3 years ago)
Sorry Nohab, as our friend Luca wrote "new" engines as such ,I presumed he was writing in a sarcastic mode, my apologies Luca.
regards.
Nohab-Polar on Mar 31, 2016 08:38 (3 years ago)
she's been given new engines in 2003 :) I think Luca meant this when mentioning "new" engines
Emmanuel.L on Mar 30, 2016 19:30 (3 years ago)
Hi Luca, she just entered No.5 dock for underwater repair and bottom cleaning plus props and rudder work.As to new engines, I don't have any info of new engines being fitted but I presume the ones installed will be given a good overhaul plus all other ancillary machinery, remember if she is to operate in European waters and ports stringent EU rules must be adhered to.
regards.
Luca Filippini on Mar 30, 2016 09:57 (3 years ago)
Thank you Emmanuel. I understand , I've seen also the short video on instagram with the "picking up" from the beach.
It' just like an empty shell with good "new" engines, to be refitted and ready for the summer season, isn't it?
Emmanuel.L on Mar 29, 2016 15:24 (3 years ago)
Yes Luca .she is still here, still undergoing a refit to bring her to a good condition for sailing with a cargo of vehicles and passengers. Mind you she had been long laid up and practically on the scrap heap ready to be cut up.
Luca Filippini on Mar 29, 2016 06:04 (3 years ago)
....still there?
Emmanuel.L on Mar 15, 2016 19:48 (3 years ago)
Hi Nohab, MOBY KISS or MOBY GALAXY whatever the name will eventually be , at least it reassuring to have a ship saved from the breakers and put back into service....as the saying goes "what's in a name". Regards
Nohab-Polar on Mar 15, 2016 08:24 (3 years ago)
Equasis have their sources :) In the past there was already a "Moby Kiss" (later "Al Mansour" for Comanav), so that would make sense.

In any case, thanks for your updates, it's interesting to see this ship brought back to life.
Emmanuel.L on Mar 15, 2016 06:49 (3 years ago)
Pier, the BANASSA/GALAXY/MOBY KISS/MOBY GALAXY these names are associated with this vessel. She has the name BANASSA on her bow, GALAXY on her stern, and the names first MOBY KISS then MOBY GALAXY then again MOBY KISS were bandied around as future names, Only time will tell which of these name she will eventually carry.I will try to keep everyone in touch of this name saga for this resurrected veteran ferry.Regards.
Pier Master on Mar 14, 2016 23:57 (3 years ago)
Where does GALAXY come into this photo? The name on the ship is BANASA...
Emmanuel.L on Mar 14, 2016 17:25 (3 years ago)
Nohab, equasis may say so but according to local info she is to be named MOBY GALAXY. In the meantime she is still carrying the name GALAXY on her stern. So when the actual name is applied on her we will the true name. Will keep informed by new photos.
regards.
Nohab-Polar on Mar 14, 2016 08:07 (3 years ago)
According to equasis her name is now "Moby Kiss"
Emmanuel.L on Feb 28, 2016 16:02 (3 years ago)
The GALAXY refit is causing a bit of trouble cause of the gritblasting and the noise emitting from this vessel .The residents of Senglea are complaining about the excess nightly noises and the grit blast dust.
regards.
jadran on Feb 28, 2016 14:51 (3 years ago)
Her refit is in a well progress,, so it seems.......

Keep-on posting more such photos, my friend, that are well documenting the sequences of her refit.... it shall be rather interesting to see & follow-up the entire refit project of this veteran ferry;
May long live GALAXY after this extensive refit (might be called as well, a 'restoration' project) is accomplished !
Cheers (J)
