Description:

One form a series of turbine powered german built A-Class ships. Bound to confuse shipsotters at the time (and even now), this is (most likely) the Anders Maersk, that emerged from the complicated conversion that Maersk carried in 1983. The stern section of this ship came from the ARTHUR MAERSK, which had already been lengthened in 1978, but more rigourously rebuilt in 1983. She was fitted with diesel engines, and for reasons unknown to me fitted with the forebody of the ANDERS MAERSK, (Imo 7361219) The new combo was subsequently renamed ANDERS MAERSK. The aft part of the original ANDERS was gtrafted to the forepart of ANNA MAERSK and subsequently became ANNA MAERSK. Are you still with me? As the picture shows her funnel without the additional section that was used on the turbine powered ships, I am confident that this is the second Anders, hence my choice of IMO number. (If I had written down the date of the shot I would have been certain)
