First generation of general cargo ships designed specially for northern Baltic routes was type B-458.
Five vessels, with high ice class L1, were delivered by Gdynia Shipyard to Polish Steamship Company.
In year 1970, the ships were transferred to Polish Ocean Lines.
Starting from year 1978, some of them were rebuilt to feeder container ships (42 TEU) - as seen in the picture -
- and continued service to Scandinavian and West European ports.
