Description:

Seen passing Portishead, outbound from Avonmouth, exactly fifty years ago today, on 18th March 1966, was the HOBART STAR, delivered to the Blue Star Line subsidiary Salient Sg Co (Bermuda) Ltd. by Bremer Vulkan at Vegesack, in July 1956.

Later: 1972 BUENOS AIRES STAR - 73 HOBART STAR - 78 AEGEAN PROSPERITY

arrived Kaohsiung 10.3.80 for breaking

The BUENOS AIRES STAR which was in service in 1975 was the former CANBERRA STAR, renamed late in 1972 (sailing from Buenos Aires on 29.12.72 bound for London via Rio) and BU at Kaohsiung, arriving there on 9.12.79

The "BA Star" you saw in '75 would have been IMO 5059977...(1972-79)....see miramar.

Thanks for posting this pic. Brings back memories. I remember her as the BA Star in Cape Town, but I thought that would have been around '75... Did Blue Star name another later vessel the BA Star after her?
