Built in 1988 as the 22 m-long "Svein Magne" by Brodrene Eikefjord Marine AS as an ambulance vessel with a speed of up to 44 knots. In 1990 she was renamed "Oyvind".
In 1993 she was lengthened by 2 m.
In 1994 she was renamed "Cuito Cuana Vale" and served as a training ship for the coast guard in Namibian waters as part of the NORAD command project.
Returned to Norway in 1999, was renamed "Riko" and laid-up until 2002.
Bought by Boskalis in 2002, stretched by another 2 m and returned to service in 2004 as "Smit Tamar" as a fast patrol vessel and RAF training vessel.
In 2018 bought by Ocean Science Consulting and renamed "Thor of Valhalla" for service as a research vessel...
Cheers
Jens
