My wife and I travelled back to Rio de Janeiro from Tilbury Dock on the Arlanza and, quite amazingly, on the very day on which this photograph was taken!!! It must have been one of the few remaining cruises of the Arlanza of the Royal Mail Line before she was sold. The voyage began with us having dinner with the captain and carried on superbly through Rotterdam, Vigo, Lisbon, the Canary Islands and finally arriving in Rio de Janeiro. A never to be forgotten journey.

I crossed the Atlantic ocean from Lisbon to Argentina in 1965 with my parents to visit my grand parents when I was about 7 yo. Very enjoyable 16 days journey. We were able to visit Las Palmas, Rio de Janeiro, Montevideo and Buenos Aires. I' m very happy to have found photos of this likable ship.
