Description:

This is the wider view of the one I uploaded a while ago, showing the "clients" of ship breaking yards of Sitalpur, north of Chittagong. Left to right: "Eurocargo Europa", container vessels "YM West" and "MSC Catania", bulkers "Sunny Voyager" and "Rio Gold" and, finally, tanker "Carina".

All ships become redundant but scrapping these ships this way with out safety standards for the people who do the breaking up is only killing them. RIP

From what I can see on marinetraffic.com nautical map, the sea along these beaches is no more than 5 m deep for at least 1 km from the shoreline, and a lot more shallow within 500 meters.
As for the drums...well, many vessels get sold with a certain quantity of oil on board. Waste not - want not! :)

Cheers

Vlad

An intriguing but depressing sight. How far out is the water shallow for? And what are these drums in there foreground?
