Newport class Tank Landing Ship.The last member of her class to serve with the Spanish Navy, SPS Pizarro served with the US Navy as the USS Harlan County (LST-1196) from 1972 through 1995 before being transferred for duty with the Armada Española.
Commissioned as the SPS Pizarro (L-42) in April 1995, the ship formed part of the Spanish Navy's Amphibious Fleet as well as the European Union's Spanish-Italian Amphibious Force (SIAF). Decommissioned from active service in December of 2012 and held in reserve thereafter.
