"On July 22 the two leading harbour towage providers Svitzer Australia and Smit Lamnalco Australia (formerly PB Towage) announced they were signing a “service level agreement' (SLA) for the ports of Newcastle, Port Botany and Melbourne.

In effect, this meant Svitzer taking over the management and operation of SL's towage business in those three ports, with a three-year bareboat charter arrangement for a total of six tugs, SL Darling, SL Murray, SL Diamantina, SL Endeavour, SL Daintree and SL Plenty – although SL Diamantina was subsequently rejected on technical grounds and no substitute has so far been named."
