... yeah David (echobow),, it certainly was 'dynamic', especially with the strong wind creating white crests on the sea .....

I do like your comment indeed, and thank you very much for it !
Greetings from Rijeka to you and Hamburg,
Jadran

David,, I come now to propose.... that all of us site members, take each of us a shovel and dig 1 more additional meter to the Panama canal length... maybe MAERSK would well pay us for that !! LOL

Looks like it Jadran. Although the lock chambers are 427m, I supppose that the necessary safety clearances plus room for the tugs (real ones this time, not locomotives) leads to that limit. But I don't know anything definite beyond that Panama Canal Authority statement.

Hi David,, does that mean.. that GJERTRUD MAERSK and her numerous sisters are not allowed to pass through the new Panama canal!? ... cause GJERTRUD MAERSK and her sisters are of length 367 mtrs !!!

Thank you Emmanuel my dear friend.... I'm so pleased to hear from you again!
Very best regards from the BOTA to you and Malta,
Jadran

An explanation for the site members:
BOTA is an acronym created by Emmanuel.L meaning "Balcony over the Adriatic"

Thanks David,,, what is the max passing width of the new pancan locks ? 54 m ?

Thank you very much (as always) David-davidships,, your full explanation now clears the query/dilemma about this ship's Container service line(s).
Kind regards /Jadran

Looking at her trading pattern over the last 18 months, she seems to alternate FE/Med/FE and FE/USWC/FE voyages (occasionally inserting an extra USWC trip). With a beam of 42.8m it is not surprising that, until now, she could not be deployed via Panama.

Hi Theo (Captain Ted),, this regular Container service line (now I can't remember its Name),, means that when the containership leaves the North Adriatic ports (Venice, Trieste, Koper, Rijeka) it passes through Suez and continues to China, and the same is valid for the return trip from China to the North Adriatic ports.
Only to be an assumption:
Maybe attending at Los Angeles is related to a completely another Container service route, with another Name belonging to it, being different than the Name exclusively given for the China - North Adriatic - China regular service line/route. Just a thought..... (but LA is indeed enigma).
Btw,, for the same containership,, round trip(s) Rijeka - China - Rijeka is (exactly) 70 days.

Hi Jadran,,ok thx,, looking at her port of calls she seems to pass also the Panama, or how she gets to Los Angeles ? China-North Atlantic- China does not include West-Coast US, special if she passes the Suez

When speaking of Suez,, you are probably right, Malim... oops, what am I saying 'probably'? ... need to say: you are RIGHT, Malim! :-))
Cheers (with or without Marlboro),
Jadran

Edson my friend,, if I have to refer to myself.. I am.. only & only.. a pure photography amateur, being of age quite oldie now (hehe) & am already in pension for full 6 years.... anyhow, I'm flattered with your praise, for what I thank you very, very, very much! :-))
Kind regards /Jadran

She must get through a lot of cartons of Marlboro on that rotation!

Captain Ted,, she is on regular container service China - North Adriatic - China (that is passing always through Suez ! )
Best regards & Good seas for you /Jadran

..... upon her mooring at the container terminal, commencement of the loading/unloading operations was postponed for about 3 hours due to the strong NE wind "black bora" blowing at the Rijeka area in the early morning hours of today.

Thank you my dear friends Husni-mr.agent, Jim, Volker and Peter-PHa for your nice, and for me, much interesting comments! :-))))
Kind regards and best wishes,
Jadran
