Description:

Cardigan Bay seen on her second visit to Southampton. Some 58,497gt with a teu of only 2,962, the idea of 3-high deck storage seems a quaint concept now. Also at the time steam-turbine powered until re-engined in 1981.

broken up Alang in March 1999, and although seeming a real dinosaur by today's standards, she had a working life of 27 years which seems unattainable by todays box-boats...

Nice photo thanks, Allan, and although they were incomparable capacity wise to today`s monsters, they certainly win hands down in the looks department, I always liked the shape of those big transom sterns, beautiful!
