Description:

General cargo ship HELIOPOLIS SKY of NSCO Lines.Launched in 1968 for KNSM as the Gooiland, she became Nedlloyd Gooiland in 1982 and finally HELIOPOLIS SKY when purchased by Heliopolis Shipping Co.of Egypt in 1985.Arrived at Mumbai for breaking in March 2002.Photo taken in Bay of Biscay,July 1991.

A true classic! The last conventional "stick boat" built in the Netherlands, in 1969, for the Koninklijke Hollandsche Lloyd, which later joined Nedlloyd.

Would anyone know when she was scrapped? Thanks!

14.11.68: Launched ex P. Smit Jr. (662), Rotterdam, for KNSM as Gooiland. Nedlloyd in 1982 and r/n Nedlloyd Gooiland. 1985: Sold to Heliopolis Shipping Co., Egypyt, and r/n Heliopolis Sky. 29.3.02: Arrived Mumbai for demolition by Indian shipbreakers.
