Hi sir, it was more a stupid remark to the other picture where the drone was higher up and further away, and "closer to doom" was meant that doom is what that could happen if i somehow crashed it into the ship, you know.

Hi Tomas, what do you mean by your phrase "one step closer to doom" ? Is that a reference to photography as we know it today with a hand held camera?
regards and thanks for sharing.

To add, a decent camera can be expensive too, for some. But who's to say that the drop in prices for digital equipment will not extend to drones, one day? All the same, I absolutely enjoy your photos, Tomas!

Max

I do only fly with a respectable distance. I dont have any compassion for those thats flying paparazzi-style. Respect others property and keep good distance.

Pha: to add : Liability, what if your drone crashes on a cruise ship and hits an, of course, American tourist? The recent ski race where a drone crashed right behind a skier in full swing could be used as an example. It will go well in 99% of the case but you would not like to be that 1 percent. And Matty, quality wise the glass in professional lense is still so much better than what can be used in a drone, we will still be able to compete for a long time. That said, the shot here looks perfect, but the limits are shown when you check for original size.

And may i add again that this is only the second flight, so hopefully the quality will be FAR better than this.

So amazing! It's a brave new world! Such beautiful work. No way I could do something like that over New York harbor.

Hi Tomas. Congratulations for the shot. A nice and interesting angle (of course with the beautiful background, as usual). Well my friend welcome to the tech.-drone shipspotting. Enjoy and income, at least to cover your investment for the future...jejeje.
Keep them coming.
Congratulations again my friend.
MBregards.

PS. I will be using the old shipspotting style for a long, long time...

Nice photo. Nice scenery. At which location (in the photo?) are you controlling the drone...?

Superb foto,, but in Tomas case easy to do as there is plenty place, Anyone ever thought about, using drones which approach ships and crews getting distracted and accidents happening by that. ?

Or is the next step,,only pictures to be posted taken by drones ? Scary thought I would say !!!!!

Is this taken by Phantom?

Unfortunately you can hardly use a drone at Hamburg, too many restrictions and no-fly-zones around airports (Airbus is next to Rüschpark spotting site) and hospitals' helicopter bases... And Bubendey Ufer is squeezed in between two no-fly-zones, too :-(

So, Tomas, it's up to you, keep them coming:-)

You GO GO GO Tomas, you deserve it. Your photo's are always of a high quality, well done. You should be proud of yourself. All the best, Brett.

Let me first state that i probably am the poorest man in all of Norway, and that i have taken 10 000 pictures of ships during the years. Nowadays i am so lucky that i in near future may earn decent salary on it. The drone was a natural development for me. The results are insane. This is my second flight, and this result aint to much to sing about. But i think it may look DECENT at least, in the future. As for anyone using a drone for photography/film, i say go ahead. BUT NOT ON MY TURF, hahaha! Kidding. Its expensive. But if you want it enough, its affordable. Even for me, that havent got one single pair of pants without a fault of some sort.

Everybody could afford the step to digital photography, but to drone photography is something few could afford. ....so would our hobby become an elitist one, who few could afford.?

Drone photography is the next step. Standard ground level photo's are yesteryear it seems - how can we compete?
