Description:

I found HDML Kuparu in a very poor state after being left up on the hard for about 15 years, with a ripped tarp over her, rotting away. I have taken on the task to try to save her. Starting with above deck to try to stop the water coming in. Serious amount of wet soggy rotten timber. Nothing like a challenge.

Kuparu is on the hard in Helensville. Where she has been for the last 15 years. I am progressing with week two all of the starboard side super structure removed, Main planks back in all glued & screwed. Glass out of wheel house, ply ready to be removed and replaced with Marine grade BS1088 . Spent all of today as it was raining, doing a clean up. Removing multiple rats nests out of the engine room. Multiple buckets of old rags n crap, flaking paint, and rotten bits of timber that had fallen inside the boat while working on the starboard side. Big project, but making progress
