It's the Gamcheon port that used to have the old Hanjin terminal. Nowadays, the Hanjin trademark signs are still there, but the terminal mostly receives general cargo vessels (rarely Hanjin's), or is outright used as a "parking place" for countless Russian fishing vessels. In Gamcheon port there are also some shipyards, mostly for repair, but "Orient" (it's Posco now, I guess) still has some newbuilding activity, and a floating dock of about 200 meters. There is also a reefer terminal, to feed numerous refrigerated warehouses in the area, and a general cargo pier often visited by Handysize vessels...and a small oil products terminal.
Finally, there is a small breaking yard, the "Pal Pal", where I can sometimes see interesting "cadavers"...

Cheers

The 'old' port is quite big as well, I guess a lot of feeders can go there in one time.
There was also a dedicated Hanjin terminal a little bit west of 'old' Busan port. Is it still there Vlad?
And Texas street, yes it changed somewhere mid nineties.

Roy

Henning, it was already Vladivostok street back in 2005, when I arrived in Korea. :)

Busan North Port, or "old" port, is now mainly used by small container feeder vessel, with all the "big guys" calling at the new port.

One should mention that this is a complete new port in Busan.
It's way off the city as we know it from the 70ties :-) to the west. The old port in downtown is still there and so is the Texas street. Which should be called now "Vladivostok Street"

Thanks for your comments, Capt. Ted and Roy. I guess it was not really necessary to remove the small island (named "To") in the middle, since it marked two distinctive entries/exits to the port. The north one (on the left) is usually used for departures, and the south one (on the right) for arrivals, in case there are two ships (one arriving and one departing). Otherwise, the south one is the main "gate". However, now that the south pier is getting expanded, all traffic is using the north channel.

The huge amount of work invested in this area can be seen from this picture: every flat surface is a reclaimed land.

Cheers

Thanks, Ruslan. It's a Galaxy S6 Edge+, the company phone. If it was up to me, I'd still be walking around with an Ericsson GH688 brick... :)

Thanks for your comment, Csaba. The photo was taken from a plane, when I was returning from my vacation. Usually the planes that approach Busan airport do not get this close to the port, so I was not prepared with my camera - the photo is from my mobile phone... :)

Cheers

Great shot. Interesting to see huge ports from this perspective. Helicopter? Airplane (on the way to Rijeka or from Rijeka?), Drone?
Cheers :-)
