Description:

I just wanted to know if this vessel has any history. The name on the side is ILLUTRON. Has it been purposely built as a house/work barge? Best shot I could get I'm afraid.

It is registered in the danish ship registre as "Mothership" or "Storhavn" with the sign OU6606

I am part of the crew on the ship "illutron" and would be happy to provide a bit more details on the ship.
It is built in 1964 at Scheepswerf Gusto (IHC) to the Norwegian Coast Directorate.
https://www.dredgepoint.org/dredging-database/equipment/storhavn

Around 1990 it was sold and brought to Denmark to be used as a diving / working platform at the great belt bridge construction.
The bucket and the legs and part of the superstructure was removed to make it more useable for this operation.

After the end of the bridge building it did a few minor jobs and was left unused in Nyborg Harbour.
Around 2007 we, the artist collective Illutron, bought the ship and brought it to Copenhagen to use as our workshop and eventspace.

It is now more and more converted into a "Houseboat".
More pictures could be found around at our site. Ill try to find a better recent picture to upload.

I will happily answer any other questions you might have about this ship.

Thanks davidships. Whatever you deem to be necessary for the site, I go with your decision. I too looked at their website. Email I will,
Best regards,

Not a currently-registered vessel under that name. But I don't think that this was purpose-built and there is a history there somewhere. She has been ILLUTRON since 2007, I think.

Current website didn't reveal any real clues to me ("a 400 ton industrial barge"):

I would be happy to keep this in "wrecks and relics" unless a better pic comes along. Meanwhile, why not email them?
