Hello Jadran I am glad to revive a few memories for you, the Royal's were indeed a special place for ships, all are still intact with the addition of London City Airport.

Thanks for the comment Jon, much appreciated, I agree with what you say about the Blue Stars, in those days you could always reckon on seeing a few of their funnels in the Docks.

Knowing you as I do Bob I can well imagine you drifting on a lighter but as you say it would be different today, probably a few Blue Lights !!

I climbed out onto a lighter in the docks once to get a better photo. I didn't notice that it wasn't tied up properly and it drifted out into the middle of the dock. Luckily a PLA tug was nearby and pushed me back to the dockside. They just laughed about it. Can't imagine that happening nowadays.

Yes indeed Bob, just strolling around completely relaxed, the world was your oyster as the saying goes.
How times have changed. !!!!!

Those were the days! Wandering round the Royals with our blue photograper's pass (evenings and weekends only. Unforunately I didn't have a decent camera in '66, so never managed a magnificent shot like this.
