Memorably photographed sailing from Avonmouth late on the morning tide of 9th September 1966, exactly fifty years ago today, was VEB Deutsche Seereederei (East Germany)'s BERNHARD BASTLEIN which had been completed at Warnemünde, near Rostock, in June 1965.
