Presumably WIDE BRAVO and her nine sister vessels - WIDE ALPHA to WIDE JULIET (six have been renamed for charter to Maersk) – are so named due to their post-Panamax beam of 37.3 metres in anticipation of the new, wider locks on the canal. (The old Panamax beam is 32.26 metres).The increased beam also provides a draught of 12 metres, which is less than than most vessels with a comparable container intake.
Former name(s):
- Wide Bravo (Until 2022 Jun)
