Class renewal involves a rigorous, five-yearly, special survey to ensure that the ship is safe, seaworthy and fit for purpose. The older the ship, the more difficult it becomes to pass the survey and if the cost of fault rectiv-fications is to high, scrapping is the usual outcome.

I think this vessel is one of the oldest MSC's at this time (34 year old and still going strong). And yes, she is in better shape than some others...

At least outwardly in better shape than some recent Maersk-chartered rustbuckets...

Very nice catch, Koos!
I didn't know that some of those older MSC's are still underway. I'm quite sure there will be not much time for plenty more good pictures of MSC Eyra because she is due for class renewal next month.
