The asphalt/bitumen tanker LAPRESTA was built in 2015/16 at the shipyard of Gebr. De Jonge (de Jonge Bros) in Kladovo (Serbia) for Asphatrans Sàrl (Reederei Jaegers Group) based in Luxembourg. The hull was towed by sea to Scheepswerf Trico, Rotterdam for completion. The vessel’s name refers to the asphalt mine La Presta in Switzerland. On 21 September 2016 the ship was christened in Rotterdam. According to the owners, LAPRESTA is the world's largest inland waterway asphalt tanker. She will be running between the Total refineries in Vlissingen, Netherlands and Antwerp, Belgium.
