I am not aware that Classification societies ask for it specifically, but some Flag states do; for instance, US Code of Federal Regulations in relation to navigation requires such markings:

I´ve a question:
All vessels with a bulbeos bow have a corresponding mark at the bow section. Sometimes - like these 2 Maersk vessels - you can read there: 5,0. I guess it means the bulb length (5,0 meters). Many other ships don´t have a notice about the bulb length. Are there any rules about this notice to inform about the length of a bulb?
