Hi Pascal,,
she always uses the bow thruster for her berthing/unberthing manoeuvre at Rijeka :-) .... regardless "the wall" or not !!! :xD

I very much thank you for your indeed nice comment addressed to me!
Cheers /Jadran

PS: You have just reminded me of the famous song "Another Brick in The Wall" (Pink Floyd; 1979) hehehe

The other 2 ships seen on anchorage are the general cargo ships: MSB 1 (IMO 7602699) and ST. CONSTANTINE (IMO 9203710); they will continue for cargo ops to the "old" port of Rijeka,, not onto the AGCT, Rijeka container terminal :-)

Thanks, Jim, for your interesting comment;
Cheers mate,
Jadran

PS:
Hey, Jim... did you happen to notice the (big) 'seagull' on this photo !??
I know that you like birdies (and ships) .......

"conditions were'nt the best for photography"

Hi Andrew,, this November month (just heard news on the radio) made the *rain record November month* in Rijeka (since 1948 when the measurements are officially recorded by the meteorological station at Rijeka);

Thank you for your very kind comment, Andrew !
Best regards from *rainy* Rijeka to You and UK ( I believe you would feel here like at home !! ),

Emmanuel,, ref. your comment "tight fit" ... well, actually, the other side (aft of the ship) is also limited... by the container cranes which are placed on the quay,, if the containership was just a little bit longer it would not fit into the photo ( i.e. into my available, unobstructed view "gap")... therefore, I always say: these G-series of Maersk containerships (L=367 m) are the maximum length that I can take photos of them from my balcony.
And yes.... also that *tree* is really creating me a great problem,, every year more & more .......
A "tree doctor"... first time I hear for such a possibility but I will consider it, maybe! hehe (lol)

Thank you for your very well observation & good suggestion, Emmanuel !!
Best regards from Rijeka (and my "balcony over the Adriatic") to You and Malta,
Jadran

Tight fit Jadran....if that tree on the right will grow more you will have a problem with Administration declaring the photo as "obstructed", better get a tree doctor to trim it....he..he..

Thank you, Clyde, for praising my "acrobatics".... uuuph was a tight squeeze (and the very last fraction of the second to make the "click" on the camera);
And thank you, Clyde... I am becoming more cheerful.........
Best regards from Rijeka to You.. and Sydney at end of spring time,
Jadran

Well done Jadran. You avoided all the obstructions in your window of opportunity. Good to "see" you in a cheerful mood.
All the best from the end of Spring in Sydney

Indeed thank you, Yvon, for your very-very interesting comment... comparing me in this case!
And yes,, I also have,, to the left side of the skyscraper which balconies are slightly seen on this picture,, another twin skyscraper.... therefore, I also have a small "window" as that shipspotter guy in Hong Kong,, btw that other my photo of Guthorm Maersk (shot on August 13, 2016) was actually shot through that particular "window" in front of my apartment balcony... so let's say in summary, what a great coincidence with the Hong Kong case/shipspotter guy you have herewith mentioned, Yvon !!
Best regards from Rijeka (don't mix it with Hong Kong hehehe),
Jadran

Hi Jadran,
That remembers me a shipspotter at Hongkong who had a small 'window' between two towers to take long lens photos. And when the ship was too long its bow and stern were just touching the balconies lol. I have forgotten his name but his site was very interesting (around 2005).

Yvon

The departure of this containership was a 'top exceptional' scene... therefore, this photo happened to become,, a not so every day... curiosity: "Ship in the balconies" hehe

Thank you very much, Volker my old friend, for your nice comment & kind words!
Best regards from Rijeka (with weather, the whole day, as can be seen on this photo),
Jadran
