PS: I have added the IMO number for Trident VIII.

I think you have finally nailed it. See the photos here:

There's nothing to be sorry for, Pascal. Thanks for your further investigations into this matter. As you took the photos over 20 years ago, we have to rely on your memory and your conclusion that in fact it's Trident VIII sounds logic to me.

Sometimes these cases of finding IMO numbers and identifying ships, rigs etc. can be more thrilling than a crime story on TV!:-)

kind regards,
Jens

Oh, sorry Pascal. that's a misunderstanding.

If, like you said, you spotted her in the mid 90s, the name must be TRIDENT IV A (NOTE THE "A").

As you are 100% sure you spotted the rig as TRIDENT IV (without the "A"), then the IMO number is NOT correct and the rig in your photo is another one, but not IMO 8756370.

See also the dates of name changes in the "Vessel identification" box above.

Cheers
Jens

Thank you, Pascal. Then my suggested IMO number must be wrong as you spotted her as Trident IV in the mid 90s and the one was IMO 8756370 was Trident IV only until 1989.

I'll remove the IMO.

kind regards
Jens

Hi Pascal,

is there a chance that when you spotted the rig it was Trident IV A, not Trident 4. I only found this for comparison:
http://www.seafox.com/en/webfolio/fleet/Seafox-Frontier/e/ms/100/pm/2/

As it has been converted in 2014 it's hard to tell if the one in your photo and the one on the Seafox-website are one and the same (though there are similarities). So I'm not completely sure I found the right IMO number.

Cheers
Jens
