Description:

Landing craft LADY MORGAN, on River Mahury, near Degrad des Cannes (French Guyana), December 6th 1998.
Cannot find informations about her. I wonder she could be the former NORMELIA, ex OSA FALCON (1972 / 349gt / IMO7224423).
Please see http://www.ddghansa-shipsphotos.de/osafalcon100.htm
Thanks for any idea.
Regards,
Yvon

I think this could be the NORMELIA, since, according to the book "La desserte maritime de la Guyane française" by Roger Jaffray the "Société des transports maritimes guyanais" almost bankrupted, had to ceased the ship, in bad shape, to a creditor bank in 1997. She could had been renamed LADY MORGAN under a new unknown owner afterward.

Nothing at all definite, but that looks likely.

The other OSA landing craft that was owned in Cayenne was ex-OSA HAWK (IMO 7615799). She was sold to Comoros in 1989 as YLANG, but then by 4/1999 was in French Guiana, named OYAPOCK and owned by Société d'Armament et de Transport, Cayenne. In 2006 she sold on to Surinam owners and became a total loss 7/2/2011. However, there are a number of design differences.

Thanks Jens,
As the NORMELIA worked some years in French Guyana area, I would say she could be her (the port of registry on the stern is Cayenne), but I cannot find any reports.
Perhaps the DDG Hansa site webmaster will read us ...

Yvon

Hi Yvon, comparing your photo with those on the DDG Hansa website, I think you found the right type of ship. It's either ex-OSA Falcon or ex-OSA Eagle (which seemed to be a sistership judging from the ship data).

The problem is that at the time your photo was taken neither of them was sailing as Lady Morgan, at least if the DDG Hansa website is correct...

My Google search for Lady Morgan was as unsuccessful as yours... :-(

kind regards,
Jens
