Description:
US Navy Ticonderoga Class Cruiser.
Commissioned in 1988, she is 567 feet long, 9800 tons full load displacement, has a draft of 34 feet, and a top speed of 32.5 knots. She has a crew of around 400 officers and sailors.
She is equipped with the AEGIS SPY-1B Radar and Combat System. She has two VLS Groups for Missiles (122 total cells) that can accommodate SM-2/3/6 Surface to Air Missiles, Tomahawk Surface Attack Cruise Missiles, and Vertical Launch ARSOC Anti Submarine Rockets. She also carries Harpoon Anti Ship Missiles, 2 5" Guns, 2 20mm Phalanx Close In Weapon Systems, 25mm and 0.50cal Machine Guns along with 12.75" Anti Submarine Torpedo Tubes. Finally she can carry up to 2 MH-60R Sea Hawk Helicopters.
She was involved in Operation Desert Storm as well as Anti Piracy Operations during her career.
She is seen here going west past Fort Monroe Hampton VA returning to Norfolk Naval Station after a seven month deployment with the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) Carrier Strike Group.
