Sometimes the Cyrillic is written as it sounds.
Tanker JACQUES DUCLOS per the English name board was if the Cyrillic was translated letter for letter you got ZHAK DUKLO. Makes it interesting anyway !

This was always a problem and still is to some extent. the Cyrillic translations the Soviets/Russians wrote on their name boards often differed from the official registry names. Under Soviet ownership, her official registry name was DEBRETSEN, as per Lloyd's Register. When she changed to Latvian registry and ownership, a different official spelling was applied.

Mike, but the problem is that the name on the bridge, which is not in cyrillic, reads DEBRECEN.... you think the Russians had it wrong?

Debrecen is the name of a Hungarian city (pronounced Debretsen in Hungarian) - see Wikipedia. The correct name for this ship according to Lloyds is DEBRETSEN and I have changed data accordingly - thanks Jens

According to Miramar her name was translated as DEBRETSEN from 1973 until 1992...

Mike, the third from last character on the bow of the ship in your shot would normally translate in "TS" so why they put it with a C on the bridge is unclear to me.

Translation from cyrillic has resulted in different names. This one clearly shows DEBRECEN on the bridge but she is also known as DEBRESTSEN (see another of her here). When she moved to the independent Latvian Shipping Company, she became DEBRECENAS, and then DEBRECEN T, probably under different ownership. Last known name is EL BRAVO under Nigerian flag. She either has been scrapped or is resting as a hulk somewhere along the Nigerian coast.
