Very interesting and very impressive shot. Perhaps some cruise buyers do not like to realize possibility of such waves. But seriously; Semi-submerged conatiners in sea, under radar coverage and difficult to see, must some times be challenging for ships and dangerous.

Thanks for the comments and will start posting again.

Theo (Captain Ted) has it right, I was on the pilot boat and the idea is to watch the sea in conjunction with the pilot boat which has to stop so there is less spray and if the timing comes off a picture like this is the result.

As to photoshop it is not on my computer, just a slight tweak of the contrast etc.

Hey Chris,

I reckon that tops your shot of the Orion a few years back ( if that is at all possible ).
I cant imagine how you got that shot without being lashed to the boat !!!

And no doubt your shoes are still drying out !!

Best Regards
Peter in Queenscliff

Great shot Chris,,, also it is not photoshopped as suggesed, Chris is on the pilot boat and in the valley of the wave and the wave in the foreground is not where the ship is riding on she is futher back,, However, no question right moment right place,,well done Chris

That's a beauty of a photograph, Chris.... just wonderful !!!
You should sell it for the Cruise company brochure... and, I believe that they would be delighted to buy it and publish it on the cover page of the this Ship brochure......
With very best regards from Croatia,
Jadran

PS: Welcome back onto the site again with your great posts, Chris!
