Not necessarily bogus. Honduras registry did not communicate much with Lloyd's Register, especially at that time, so quite often small vessels never got recorded by LR. The registers were only as good as as the information received.

Thanks Simon. Well, it's definitely Trojan on the stern, which means that it's increasingly likely to be one of those bogus ship names that was never officially registered. I'll keep looking though :-)

I've added an additional photograph (scanned slide) of the stern of the vessel. The name does look like Trojan, although I've tried other combinations like Yrojan and Jrojan.

Simon, do you have another photo from a different angle, where the name is a bit more visible?

I don't think Trojan is right.
