Well Jan, re the OCEANIC conversion to a m/yacht, I don't know if the local yard is going to do the relevant work. The work force must be augmented by foreign workers as usual from E.European countries to complete the job as the number of local work force is small. Let us hope that it is done here in Malta.

Ex OCEANIC was laid up at Karmarine Shipyard - Yalova from Nov15 untill December16 before she was towed by greek tug EUROPE (IMO 8518168) from mentioned place to Malta.
Apparently - as AIS and databases like seaweb/equasis.org still show ORKA SULTAN - which was her last name under Karadeniz ownership/Ata salvage management - and Yalova –the last location she sailed on her own - it seems that new owners/managers have not registered change of name (back to OCEANIC) and change flag at flag state authority/ classification society in charge yet. Is is most likely that AIS -IT on the vessel issimply not upatded yet…
The link that conversion might take place at Malta it that the sister vessel was converetd there as well…

The OCEANIC was supposed to have her conversion to a motor yacht here at Palumbo, but now it looks that she will be heading to Turkey for this conversion.
The background in this photo is of the parish church at Senglea dedicated to Our Lady of Victories.

Huge tug. Nice shot. I like the background too. Could she be headed for Besiktas Shipyard (Yalova) for conversion...? Just south of Istanbul.

I knew you will appreciate this photo Jan, incidentally Marinetraffic.com is showing her as the ORCA SULTAN reg. in Liberia even though she is still as everyone can see with the name OCEANIC still prominent ,and is qouting that she is bound for Yalova dockyard, Wherever that is.
Mind you certain info from marinetraffic I take them with a pinch of salt, as it is not the first time I have seen bogus info on this site.
