In this day and age, when 7 year old container ships are sold for scrap, it is interesting to see a vessel of 28 years of age still trading happily... :)

One of the first container carriers I've seen from MSC, I think I was 5 or 6 y.o. haha. Glad she's still around! Nice picture :)

Thanks for the info, Rick. MSC Annick is a regular guest in Kwangyang, but she's much younger than this old lady here... :)

Cheers

Thanks for the pic and info Vlad. It's good to see this older vessel gainfully employed.
I was intrigued as to her current service and surprised to find that 'MSC Levina', 'MSC Annick' & 'MSC Maria Pia' are on the Origami Express service. A feeder service between Japanese ports & Ningbo.
See HERE for details.
Regards, Rick

Thanks for comment, Ralph.
Yes, the beauty of owning fully written down vessels, as opposed to the chartered ones...
Actually, I knew that there are lots of ships like this one in MSC fleet trading in Europe, but was not expecting to see them in "my" area.

Cheers

Vlad

Yes Vlad, MSC still has quite some oldies in service, some dating back to the mid-8os (ex-Soviet tonnag even). I guess they are the right size, completely written down and fully owned. Many of the containerships going for scrap are charter ships without employment.
