Description:

The 1944 Wm. Denny, Dumbarton, built, Liberia flagged, PORTALON is seen passing Portishead on 5th March 1967, so fifty years ago yesterday, inbound for Avonmouth with a part cargo of grain from South America.

Delivered to Australind S.S. (Trinder, Anderson) as AUSTRALIND and owned since 1959 by Eduardo De Aznar of Bilbao, Spain, manager of the well known Naviera Aznar S.A., PORTALON was laid up at Bilbao in 1971 and eventually towed to Santander for breaking, work starting on 13th March 1972.

In addition; just look at that excellent funnel logo!
When compared to some of today's bland, corporate non-entities, such as this random EXAMPLE , if a shipping company wanted a memorable & stylish logo, they could do worse than following the propellor and steering wheel on the Portalon.
