I also use a bridge camera (Lumix FZ-200)and 2 battery packs (I`m not sure if there is an adapter for AA batteries available for my camera at all). To my surprise it is a very energy power-efficient camera in comparison with other digicams I`ve used. Even when shooting for a long time at temperatures far below zero. Of course battery pack lifetime depends on the manufacturer as well I think, but using a battery pack seems more budget-friendly for me. Maybe refusal of your camera to shoot is a camera failure and there is nothing to do with battery issue?

I was recently in Norway but had problems with my camera at -17 degrees. It would focus but not take the shot which is a shame when the Northern Lights are curling above your head !!! I have a bridge camera that uses AA batteries. Do you have a battery pack ? Are they better against the cold ??

Thank you very much MattyBoy and Brett, I appreciate!
I remember that day quite well since it was the coldest one that winter - somewhere around 25 C below zero.

That is sea-ice on the surface of the frozen Sea Channel - I was standing on the ice ahead of the tug.

Is that sea-ice or the shore ?

Thank you for the link, Comfisher!
Igor, you are right: on zooming in it is possible to make out some rectangles looking like stickers or paintovers on the left funnel - only PAVLOVSK has them arranged in such a pattern. Thanks for identification.

Thanks for the update, Juergen! For sure it is the tug of that project, but there are several of them in the port and now there seems to be no way to tell which one exactly...
