Description:

A/B Transmarin (Transatlantic Marine), founded by Bernhard Ingelsson at Helsingborg, Sweden, in 1916, also had for many decades provided a regular service from Scandinavia to Bristol City Docks. Their 1945 Gothenburg built BECKY had in fact been sold in 1965 to John E. Sandstrom of Stockholm, placed under the Panama flag and chartered back, at least until Thursday 30th March 1967 when photographed passing Portishead inbound for Bristol.

The charter ending soon afterwards, BECKY commenced to trade away from North Europe. Sold in 1975 to Greek buyers associated with the fast growing Flandermar Shipping Company and renamed ELLITSA, she continued to trade worldwide until arriving at Koper in July 1976. Thereafter remaining in the Mediterranean area, she was acquired by fellow Greeks Moriatis Shipping in 1980 who sailed her to Freetown only for her to be laid up and abandoned to local interests who were going to trade her as TIMBU until she suffered a fire on 28th January 1981 and was broken up.
